ABOUT LEN CHOPTIANY

Len began developing Groundwork in 2005 combining Jungian, Gestalt and existential philosophic approaches.

He studied Philosophy and Architecture at the University of Toronto, and was an actor with the Arabeska theatre group, doing stage and television using the methods of Grotowski. He taught Philosophy at Victoria College, at the U of T Division of Extension, at York University, and has published in the International Journal of Ethics.

He later moved to northern Quebec, where he taught the philosophy of Self and Invalidation to native Crees, MicMacs and Mohawks.

He studied Psychiatry at the Clarke Institute, engaged in Rogerian and Jungian psychotherapy, and studied Gestalt Psychology at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto. He is a member of the Canadian Association of Psychodynamic Therapists.

Len has also had an intense business and creative career. He was Director of a Retail Advertising firm, Creative Director of a Publishing firm, and President of his own Media Company.

He has been an associate with the McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology, and is developing videos on the impact of new media on the human psyche. He is Creative Director of The Richmond Cultural Seminars, a group dedicated to public discussion of current cultural issues. RCS holds video salons every couple of months, which are open to the public.

In psychotherapy, Len specializes in breakthrough work in personal, relational and creative blockages, and on the long-term search for reality.
